John Scott is a Principal Consultant with Zurich Strategic Risk. He focuses on improving clients’ business performance through the profiling and modelling of business risks and strategies. His training and experience as a facilitator and coach drive the delivery of improved strategic decisions, successful integration of mergers and acquisitions, enterprise-wide risk management systems and other change projects.

A graduate of Oxford University, with a PhD in geology, John's early career was in the upstream oil & gas industry, where he gained a strong grounding in portfolio risk management and wide-ranging international experience. In 1995 he gained his MBA at Cranfield and joined BOC, where he led a number of strategic initiatives including M&A work and business risk management. Promotion to a general management role in a newly created BOC division gave him profound experience in change management and in delivering significant growth through the integration of acquisitions, alliances and managing organic growth.

For two years prior to joining Zurich in 2001, John was European Business Development Director for Moore, a Chicago-based customer communications business. During that time he developed a number of new Internet marketing businesses, delivering enhanced customer relationship services for his clients.

John has over sixteen years experience of analysing, quantifying and modelling business issues in the manufacturing, chemical process, upstream oil and gas, semiconductor/ electronics, marketing, financial services, printing, distribution and paper sectors.

An experienced facilitator in a variety of approaches to team working, John has facilitated many different business teams in a variety of topics from change management, to organisational development and board-level strategy development workshops. These include structured techniques and approaches such as GE’s “Work Out" and Zurich’s TRP processes.
