Zurich becomes first composite UK general insurer to gain CII Chartered Insurer status - 26 January 2012

Steve Jenkins, CII Director of Financial Services is on the left.Zurich has become the first composite insurer to gain Chartered Insurer status from the Chartered Insurance Institute, CII, for the whole of its UK general insurance business.

This follows years of work to develop defined standards of ethical behaviour and reflects Zurich's ongoing commitment to professional qualifications and to employee personal development. The status covers Zurich’s UK General Insurance division (Commercial Broker, UK Personal Lines and Zurich Municipal) and Global Corporate UK, as well as Zurich’s shared service functions.

Speaking after the event, Steve Lewis commented, “Corporate Chartered Status is the gold standard in the insurance industry and is recognition of our expertise and professionalism. As the first composite insurer in the UK to achieve this across all general insurance operations, this puts Zurich in a unique position in the market and is further evidence of our professionalism and expertise.”

Dr Sandy Scott, CEO of the CII Group, said, "Zurich's decision to become a Chartered Insurer is hugely significant and shows that the industry is serious about building a profession that can enjoy public confidence.
