Winter’s edition of News and Views is now available to download
As Christmas festivities reach their peak and the winter weather really starts to bite, we reflect on the latest hot topics, news and risk management advice from around the sectors. This month we also have a special 4 page supplement on our “winter resilience guide”.
In this edition:
- ZM Managing Director Anne Torry discusses the importance of effective planning for cold weather conditions, together with extended news pages covering our FSI sponsorship charity car draw, the launch of a Zurich Municipal & LGiU briefing paper on the importance of risk appetite in service devolution and delegation, an update on ELTO and Zurich’s renewed focus on the Healthcare sector.
- We take an in depth look at the growing issues associated with instances of civil unrest and provide advice on developing robust business continuity plans.
- Our Winter Resilience Guide begins with a thorough examination of the responsibilities of managing public services in mid-winter, providing advice on how to cope with the various risks thrown up by adverse weather conditions
- We then go on to discuss the growing issues associated with fuel poverty in “To eat or to heat”. We look at how reduced levels of heating increases the risks of burst pipes and the rising claims for damage due to escape of water, providing practical advice on how to mitigate the situation.
- “The Hole Truth” concludes our Winter Resilience Guide, providing the latest thinking on the maintenance and management of pot holes
- In addition, customers can also expect our usual plethora of other features, including the introduction of emergency folders within schools, how false alarms are reducing fire service response, and an interesting case study on the Down Ampney village hall fire
- Finally we have Sue Slipman stepping on to our famous Soap Box. Sue is Chief Executive for the Foundation Trust Network and takes the opportunity to reflect on the intensifying risk issues foundation trusts are being exposed to during health care changes.
