Tough Choices: Helping local authorities through unsettled times

Zurich Municipal will launch the findings of their new research report Tough Choices: Different perspectives on long-term risks facing local government at next week’s ALARM conference. Zurich Municipal will be discussing this publication in more detail in their workshop at ALARM on 20th June and conference delegates will be able to register for their free copy of the report
on stand 31.

This updated report contains research specific to local authorities and follows on from the full paper that was launched in November 2010. Along with a foreword from Steve Freer, Chief Executive of CIPFA, and a preface from Derek Myers, Chair of the SOLACE Management Board, this publication contains some updated research and explores the various risks that are likely to face the sector over the next few years.

Key findings* from this report include the fact that 66% of people felt that the budget cuts would have a detrimental effect on frontline services and that only 10% of the public would protect local authority spending from budget cuts. 17% of the public are supportive of communities being involved with council services & would volunteer themselves.

Please come and visit our stand where we will be happy to discuss these findings in more detail.

This report is now available to download from www.NewWorldofRisk.com

*The research was conducted by Ipsos MORI among 1,003 consumers between
25th February and 3rd March 2011.
