New independent claims validation process for leaseholders and shared ownership customers.
From Monday 3 October 2011 we will be introducing a new independent validation service for property claims available to our leaseholder and shared ownership customers. This service will be provided by Imperial Claims Consultants and is designed to provide greater flexibility and choice during the claims process.
From 3 Oct 2011 our leaseholders or shared ownership customers submitting a claim may be contacted by Imperial Claims Consultants as part of the claims process. A Building Surveyor will then arrange to meet with them at the risk address on a convenient date to undertake a claim validation survey. This survey is to determine the cause of the damage and to consider reinstatement solutions.
Following the survey and whilst still on site, the Surveyor will discuss the scope of works and settlement options, (subject to the Surveyor confirming the damage is covered under the terms of our policy). Options available will include: -
- cash value which will enable the customer to instruct their own nominated contractor to carry out the repairs
- a cash value for work the customer may wish to undertake themselves, (Do It Yourself/DIY); or
- the option to utilise Zurich’s approved contractor to carry out the repairs.
If the customer wishes to have a schedule of works for their reference this can be provided on request. If the claim is not covered under the terms of the policy then the Surveyor will advise this at the time of the visit. This can be followed up in writing if required. Existing claims arrangements will not be affected.
By employing our validation service in this way we believe we can significantly improve the service we provide to our leaseholder and shared ownership customers, and at the same time assist them to manage costs and improve the time it takes to reinstate after damage has been caused.
