ELTO reminder

From 1 April 2011, ELTO (Employers’ Liability Tracing Office) replaced the voluntary Employers’ Liability Code of Practice tracing service, in place since 1999. ELTO was introduced by Government to make it easier to search for Employers’ Liability policies using a central database that will contain all insurance policies:

  • from April 2011
  • pre-April 2011 that have new claims made against them
  • that have been identified through the tracing service.

Zurich Municipal is obliged to submit Employers’ Liability data held with us so we need to obtain an Employer Reference Number (ERN) or ‘Employer PAYE Reference’ from customers by April 2012, primarily at renewal.
