Government publishes a series of reports on 'Understanding Crowd Behaviours'
The Cabinet Office has published a series of reports on 'Understanding Crowd Behaviours: Documents'.
The Government commissioned Leeds University in 2008 to study this issue and the reports are now published as part of the body of UK Civil Protection Guidance.
The reports are not rules for managing crowds but are published with the aim of providing planners with “clear direction, and supporting information, about the assumptions that can very reasonably be made about crowd behaviour".
The reports discuss good practice guidelines for different aspects of risk in crowd events including managing crowds and preparing for emergency situations and are recommended for those involved practically in the field of crowd events including local authorities, emergency services and event planners.
