2007 sees joint Council of the Year winners

High Peak Borough Council and Wychavon District Council have been named as the two winners of Council of the Year at the LGC Awards 2007.

The award was presented by Rob Allison, newly appointed Managing Director of Commercial Direct which includes Zurich Municipal.

The judges included Ronan Ball from Zurich Municipal, proud sponsors of this most prestigious award since its launch in 1995.

Ronan commented ‘Congratulations to all the winners and short-listed organisations in the 2007 LGC awards – Zurich are delighted to sponsor the Council of the Year award again this year which nationally recognises the important work of councils at a local level.’

Host of the awards, Rory Bremner, noted the judges comments that High Peak Borough Council ‘is a highly ambitious and resourceful district council with emphasis on efficiency and value for money’.

The judges also commended Wychavon District Council for having ‘energy, ambition and a positive attitude to everything it does.’
