June 4 2004

Zurich Financial Services Group has, subject to regulatory approval, appointed David Sims as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the UK Life Insurance Business, reporting to Paul van de Geijn, CEO Global Life Insurance Business.  David Sims succeeds Lawrence Churchill, who stepped down from this position recently.

Commenting on David Sim's appointment, Paul van de Geijn said, "I'm delighted to welcome David to this challenging role.  Based on his track record, I expect him to deliver fundamental changes in the UK Life business.  This requires the strengthening of both the manufacturing and distribution functions as well as further improving the segment's profitability."

David Sims (46) joined Allied Dunbar Assurance in 1993 as Marketing Director.  Among several positions he has held in the Zurich Financial Services Group since then, he has been UK Life Developing Distribution Director and Group Marketing Director for Zurich Financial Services in the UK, Ireland and Southern Africa.  Since 2002, David Sims has been Managing Director of Zurich International Solutions (ZIS), which is a group of wholly owned subsidiaries in various locations in the world, providing Life, Pensions and Savings solutions to individual and corporate clients.
