Zurich to showcase Risk Review at Health and Safety Expo

22nd April 2003.

Zurich Risk Services will be showcasing Risk Review at this year’s Health and Safety Expo. Risk Review is a management review tool, which is designed to evaluate existing risk management practices and identify areas where risk management is needed. Zurich Risk Services believes that Risk Review will help people responsible for Health and Safety and risk management to highlight any shortfalls in safe workplace management.

Health and safety officers and risk managers face a daily challenge in trying to identify and understand the risks that pose the greatest threat to their businesses. Not knowing what they are means that their businesses are exposed and maybe unprepared to deal with the consequences.

Risk Review’s flexibility means that customers are able to create a tool that identifies the risks relevant to their business by selecting the right modules for them.  The review is carried out on-site by a Zurich risk analyst, who interviews people closest to the issues and then carries out a site survey.

Following the review, Zurich sends out a report that analyses current risk management practices, identifies key risk areas and lastly advises on how these risks can be better managed in the future.

Ian Darrah, MD Chapman & Sons, a medium-sized textiles company said: "Risk Review highlighted areas we were not necessarily aware of. Safety checks are normally carried out on the works, but the Risk Review illustrated that the business was falling down on some safety and risk management aspects."

Ian McNeil, National Risk Manager at Zurich Risk Services concluded, "The Risk Review is really a starting point for businesses to manage risk and make sure that they are achieving statutory compliance to legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work Act.  It was developed as a result of our customers' increasing awareness of risk and their need to do 'something' about it."
