Allied Dunbar, Award for Adviser's Charity Work

July 10, 2001 - A lifetime commitment to raising money for charity has earned a Bracknell man recognition from his employer.

Allied Dunbar's prestigious Chief Executive Award allows staff to recognise and reward outstanding commitment from their colleagues. Financial Adviser David Horton was nominated anonymously for his volunteering work, recognising both his active involvement in local charities and his outstanding fundraising activities which have seen him raise almost £¼million for good causes around Camberley and Bracknell.

David has lived in Binfield near Bracknell for 22 years and says his success is due in no small part to friends and family who have supported his various endeavours over that time.

"I've been coercing people for over 20 years to raise funds for a host of local charities. This award recognises their support and achievements over the years and allows me to thank them once again for their commitment. Raising money can be hard - but if I didn't ask, people might not give and then we wouldn't have the pleasure of giving it away to our very deserving causes."

Red Diamond handicapped children, Larchwood residential respite care, Heatherwood Baby unit and national charity BLISS, as well as the Allied Dunbar Room at Frimley Park Hospital and Carwarden House School are some of the local causes to benefit from David's efforts.

He is also chairman of Ranelagh School's fund raising committee.

David will receive the prestigious Allied Dunbar Chief Executive Award at a Gala Celebration Dinner in October.
