Commercial Combined art & antiques policy benefits

Zurich’s commercial combined policy brings together commercial business cover and specialist stock insurance in one policy for customers based in the United Kingdom.

The art and antique policy has been designed with the specific needs of galleries, dealers and museums in mind.

Coverage highlights

Stock/Exhibits

Cover for all risks of physical loss or damage to your own stock and the property of others that is in your care whilst:

  • at your own premises and in storage
  • at unnamed locations on a temporary basis
  • carried by you and/or your employees away from your premises
  • entrusted to others within your trade
  • being sent from your premises by courier and other postal services

We have a flexible basis of valuation to suit your needs and in the event of partial damage to an item we will pay the cost of restoration plus any resulting depreciation in value.  We will also take into account any increased value that an item has by virtue of it being part of a pair or set.

Buildings

Includes the saleshop, residential accommodation, any outbuildings used in connection with your business or for domestic purposes and landlords fixtures and fittings.  Cover under this section also includes damage to glass and sanitary ware, the cost and expense incurred to locate the source, and repair any damage caused by locating the source, of water and/or oil leaks (up to £2,500) and loss of rent (up to 15% of the buildings sum insured).

We will also provide £2,000,000 Property Owner’s Liability when buildings are insured.

Trade Contents

We will provide cover at your premises for your trade fixtures and fittings, machinery and all other contents including:

  • fixed glass in windows, doors, showcases, counters and shelves
  • the shop front and any external signs, fitments and blinds that are fixed to the buildings
  • any telephone installation, gas or electricity meter
  • computer systems records
  • tenant’s improvements and decorations
  • pedal cycles, clothing and personal effects of you and your employees up to £500 any one person that are contained within your premises and belonging to you or for which you are responsible.

We will also provide the following additional cover under this section at no additional cost:

  • Up to 15% of the trade contents sum insured for property temporarily removed from your premises for cleaning, renovation, repair or similar purposes.
  • £2,500 of trade contents whilst at exhibitions or fairs within the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.
  • £1,000 for cost of replacing locks following the theft of keys to the premises or to any safe or strongroom.
  • £2,500 excess water charges following the loss of metered water as a result of damage to fixed water pipes, apparatus and tanks.
  • £2,500 for the cost and expense incurred to locate and repair any damage caused by locating the source of water and/or oil leaks.
  • Debris removal costs incurred for removing trade contents following damage by an insured event.
Money

We will cover physical loss or damage to money at your premises up to the following limits:

  • During business hours - £7,500
  • Outside business hours in locked safe - £2,500
  • Outside business hours not in locked safe - £250

We will also provide such cover for money away from your premises up to the following limits:

  • In transit by you or your employees - £7,500
  • In any bank night safe - £7,500
  • In your or an authorised employees home - £500

This section includes cover for crossed cheques and the like up to a limit of £250,000.

Malicious Attack

Cover in the event you or your employees sustain bodily injury as a result of malicious attack by anyone stealing or attempting to steal money or trade contents.  We will pay the following sums if physical injury is the only and direct cause of :

  • Death - £10,000
  • Total loss of one or more limbs - £10,000
  • Loss of sight - £10,000
  • Permanent total inability to attend any occupation or business - £10,000
  • Temporary total inability to attend to the usual occupation or business Normal weekly wage or salary up to £100

We also cover loss or damage of clothing or personal belongings of you or your employees as a result of malicious attack up to £500 per person.

Business Interruption

We will pay for loss of income and extra expense incurred as a result of loss or damage caused by an insured event.  The most we will pay is £1,000,000 over an indemnity period not exceeding 24 months.

Employers Liability

Our standard limit of liability is £10,000,000 and extends to cover your directors, partners or employees anywhere in the world on temporary visits on your business for the purpose of non-manual work.

Public and Products Liability

Our standard limit of liability is £2,000,000.

The following sections of cover are optional extras that can be included as required:

 

Fairs and Exhibitions Cover

We will cover your stock and inwards entrustments whilst at any trade fairs or exhibitions, including transit thereto and therefrom by an approved method.

Exhibition/Fair Non-Participation

Cover for expenses incurred in connection with fairs and exhibitions when you are unable to attend by reason of sudden and unforeseen life threatening accidental injury or illness or death of your principals, employees or immediate family.

Defective Title

This provides indemnity against financial loss to the business caused by the purchase, in good faith, of stock where you do not acquire good title.

Professional Indemnity

Cover for liability at law for damages and claimants costs and expenses arising from wrongful valuations.

Unspecified Items All Risks Europe/Worldwide

We will cover your trade contents, i.e. laptop computers, digital cameras and the like, away from your premises.

Unattended Vehicle Cover

Cover for property insured whilst contained within a fully secured and locked unattended vehicle under the sole control of you, your employees, representatives or travellers.

Employers Liability

Our standard limit of liability is £10,000,000 and extends to cover your directors, partners or employees anywhere in the world on temporary visits on your business for the purpose of non-manual work.

Legal Expenses

This will provide cover for legal costs and expenses incurred by you in defense of certain legal and civil proceedings and for certain disputes with employees, former employees or customers. The maximum amount we will pay of any insured event which results in a valid claim being made under this section will be £50,000 per insured event subject to an overall annual aggregate of £500,000.

Terrorism

We will provide cover for acts of terrorism that cause loss or damage to your insured stock, trade contents and buildings with England, Wales or Scotland. We also provide terrorism cover for your stock when in transit anywhere in the world.

Employee Infidelity

Cover for acts of dishonesty by or in collusion with your employees.
