I have set up my policy and I still haven't received my policy documents?

What is Personal Possessions cover?
Personal Possessions cover can be added to Contents cover. Without this, your possessions are not covered when you are away from home. If, for example, you lose a ring when on holiday, you will need to have Personal Possessions cover in order to be insured for your loss.

How do I go about making a home insurance claim?
To report a claim in the United Kingdom please call us on 0800 345 7595, lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

I’m not sure how much home cover I need. How do I find out?
You need to make sure that you have enough cover for the rebuilding cost of your home for Buildings insurance and for the replacement of your belongings with Contents insurance. The rebuilding cost of your property is different from the market value, and you will need to ensure you have sufficient cover for the full rebuilding cost of your property.

Zurich Solutions automatically covers up to £500,000 rebuilding costs and up to £50,000 contents insurance. When considering how much cover you need, take into account the full replacement cost of all your contents as new.

What cover is available for my PC or laptop?
Your PC will be covered as standard for selected events as part of Contents cover. If you want cover outside the home, for example, for a laptop or notepad, you will need to select Personal posessions Cover. If you want to know more about what's covered just give us a call on 0800 333 800.

What choices of home cover do you offer?
With our Zurich Solutions product the main choices are Buildings and Contents cover. Personal Possessions cover is available as options with Contents cover, and Garden Cover is available as an option with Buildings cover. Additional Family Legal Expenses cover is available with either our Buildings or Contents policies.

What’s the difference between ‘buildings’ and ‘contents’. Where do carpets fit in?
In insurance terms, Buildings covers the structure of your home, including fences, paths, outbuildings and so on, plus anything permanently fitted or soon to be fitted, like kitchen and bathroom units.
Contents covers what is in your home; your goods, furniture and valuables. Carpets are not part of the structure of your home, so they fall under your Contents cover.

Why do I need Home insurance?
Your home and your belongings may be the most valuable possessions you own and insurance like Zurich's is there to help reassure you if something unforeseen happens. Also, if you have a mortgage it will almost certainly be a requirement of the mortgage company to have insurance for your buildings.

Home Contents insurance is your own choice and covers your belongings against events such as theft, fire and flood. Personal Possessions insurance means that your belongings can also be covered when away from your home. Further information is contained in the policy booklet.
