Develop your talents in the department – Business Change & IT
When you join our team through the Zurich Graduate Development Programme we’ll give you significant responsibility and ownership for projects right from the start. We’ll make sure you get a wide range of experience working in a variety of roles on a diverse range of projects for customers from around our business. Learning is very hands on, so you can expect to be running with your first project within just a few weeks. You’ll start on smaller, more manageable projects, but there’s no limit to what you can achieve – a graduate who started with us just three years ago now managing a project worth several million pounds.
What degree and skills do I need?
Our development partners (including IBM, Capita and CSC) handle our IT delivery, which means our key skills are in negotiation, analysis and management, much more than any technical skills you might have – so while an IT degree may be useful we do consider graduates from all disciplines.
What roles are available?
We have various roles available for graduates, and you’ll get the chance to try several out whilst on our grad scheme. Our Project Managers make sure our IT projects are completed successfully by working with and managing our suppliers and the project budget throughout the lifecycle of the project. Business Analysts work with our internal business customers (for example, Marketing, Finance or HR) and business partners to identify and analyse the changes to business processes and IT systems that are needed. They then work with those customers and our development partners to formulate designs that can be turned into solutions. We also offer Project Office roles, which offers exposure to the high level decision making groups and senior business leaders. Later on in the grad scheme you might also get the opportunity to work in other areas of the business working with other departments within the company, using the skills you’ve learnt with us to help them shape change in their areas.
Where will I be working?
In 2008 we’re looking for graduates to work in our UK Life business. You’ll be based in Swindon but will occasionally need to work in Cheltenham. As Zurich is a global organisation, you may also get the chance to take secondments in other countries such as Switzerland, India and Spain as part of your career development if this is something you’re interested in.
Please note that the application will take approximately 30 minutes to complete so please set aside sufficient time as you will be unable to save and complete your application at a later date.
