Helping to make work a better place
We uphold our responsibilities at work in other ways too: we run a biannual Employee Engagement Survey which provides valuable feedback. Our aim is to give all our employees the opportunity to fulfil their potential, as well as to help them find a rewarding balance between their home and working life. Our working group considers all aspects of their health and wellbeing.
We actively encourage employees to engage in a community activity through a broad employee volunteer programme and, for each employee, donate at least one business day a year to volunteering in the community.
There is a network of Zurich employees engaged in climate change issues in their work time from a broad cross-section of Zurich employees. We share the feedback throughout the organisation and monitor results to ensure that engagement levels are acceptable and ongoing improvements can be made.
Awards without the ceremony
We don’t involve ourselves in Corporate Responsibility so passionately because we seek to win acclaim. We do it because it’s important to us to have high standards of responsibility and integrity towards our employees, communities, society and the environment.
Nevertheless we are delighted to receive recognition for our efforts because it is proof that others believe we are following the right course.
- We have been members of Business in the Community (BiTC) for many years and participate in their annual ‘Top 100 companies that count’ Corporate Responsibility index.
- We achieved Gold standard in the BiTC Corporate Responsibility Index for the last three years.
- We were one of the first 13 large companies to be awarded the independently assessed inaugural BiTC CommunityMark.
- We were awarded the Gold Payroll Giving award for our encouragement and support of payroll giving.
- For the second year running, Zurich was placed in the Sunday Times ‘Top 25 Big Companies To Work For 2011’. Our position has improved from 21st in 2010 to 20th in 2011.
