Responsibilities
At Zurich, we believe in being an active member of both global and local communities. In particular, we believe that in order to achieve our strategic aim of becoming the leading global insurer in our chosen markets, we need to set and maintain high standards of responsibility and integrity.
Zurich has continuously met its ongoing corporate responsibility objective of inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) and the FTSE4Good Index Series since their inception in 1999 and 2001, respectively. We have demonstrated year-on-year improvements in overall performance, earning SAM Bronze Class distinction in 2008 and 2009. Scores remain above average in the social, environmental and economic dimensions of the DJSI.
Not only have these indices become influential benchmarks for the growing number of investors considering good corporate responsibility performance essential to the long-term success of their investments, but they are an indicator of our success in managing significant environmental, social and governance issues. Our ongoing inclusion in these indices demonstrates our continuous commitment to embed important issues and related stakeholder expectations into our core business. With 138 years experience in the world of insurance and risk management, we are dedicated to understanding and anticipating tomorrow’s insurance needs.
In the UK, this dedication is reflected in our CR aim which is to:
".. embrace CR and pursue our business with high standards of responsibility and integrity towards our employees, communities, society and the environment."
