Responsibilities
At Zurich, we believe in being an active member of both global and local communities. In particular, we believe that in order to achieve our strategic aim of becoming the leading global insurer in our chosen markets, we need to set and maintain high standards of responsibility and integrity.
Zurich has been recognised for its approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), qualifying for the Dow Jones World Sustainability index since 1999, and the Stoxx Sustainability Index since 2001. In 2006, we surpassed the sector average for performance in the economic, environmental and social dimensions assessed by the annual review. We’ve also been included in Europe's FTSE4 Good Index Series, having met the criteria in five areas - working towards environmental sustainability, developing positive relationships with stakeholders, upholding and supporting universal human rights, ensuring good supply chain labour standards and countering bribery.
This recognition shows that we understand and manage the social and environmental impacts of our business whilst taking into account the changing demands of our stakeholders. With 135 years experience in the world of insurance and risk management, we’re dedicated to understanding and anticipating tomorrow’s insurance needs.
In the UK, this dedication is reflected in our CSR aim which is to:
".. embrace CSR and pursue our business with high standards of responsibility and integrity towards our employees, communities, society and the environment."
