Zurich's community involvement programme is delivered by Zurich Community Trust, a registered charity funded from the Zurich UK businesses and from donations from staff and advisers.
The award was for a large employer (with more than 250 employees) that has carried out a well-constructed and thought out Give As You Earn (GAYE) promotion with measurable results in 2009.
Fighting off stiff competition from other finalists - Aviva, Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and 'Highly Commended' Thinkmoney, the judges felt that Zurich's nomination was impressive with objectives that recognised Zurich's challenges.
They felt Zurich Community Trust had listened to employees and adopted a common sense approach. The 'click to give' emails were innovative, the 'drip drip' communication strategy was well thought out, and the results demonstrated that this was the most successful campaign yet.
Zurich was also commended for the low cost of the campaign, the excellent use of stakeholders and excellent £ for £ matching.
