What to do if your car gets stolen

We aim to help you through the process as quickly and easily as possible but here’s what you should do if you’re unlucky enough to become a victim of car theft:

  • First things first, call the police and report the incident. You’ll be given a crime number which we will need to process your claim.
  • Then contact us or get your broker to do it for you. Our number for the UK is 0800 400 641, or if the theft happened in the European Union, it’s 0044 1274 658 073.
  • Did you make a note beforehand of the type of personal belongings you kept in the car? It’s a good idea to do so as your insurance covers you for the items you keep in your glovebox and boot up to the maximum amount as stated in your policy.
