Zurich launches Green Charters

In response to rising concerns about climate change and the environment, Zurich is pleased to announce the launch of a new set of Green Charters, which outline Zurich’s green credentials.

Green Commitment

Zurich’s Green Charters demonstrate exactly what we have been doing in recent years and are committed to doing in the future.

Richard Coleman, Head of Personal Lines in Zurich’s Broker Division said, "Thinking ‘Green’ is fast becoming a way of life for us all and we are keen to demonstrate what we have been doing to help reduce the effects of climate change. We want our brokers to know that if you recommend any Zurich product, you can rest assured that you are recommending a company who has already taken steps to help the environment and reduce climate change."

Charter Overview

• We target our Salvage Agents to re-use at least 85% of all parts and oil following the total loss of a vehicle
• Solar panels and wind turbines which save energy, are included as standard under our Home Solutions buildings policy
• We can replace, through our approved suppliers, washing machines, dishwashers, fridge freezers and upright freezers with Band A energy efficient appliances where the item requires replacement following a claim
• We work with international environmental charities like Earthwatch to help reduce damage to coastal areas from tsunamis and other ocean flooding in Sri Lanka
• We print all our documentation on paper which comes from fully sustainable forests,  is bleached without chlorine gas and can be recycled
• We were one of the founder signatories to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) ClimateWise principles in the UK in 2007
