legal cover

Legal CoverCover from £28.99
If you have an accident that’s not your fault, this cover will provide up to £50,000 for legal representation for you and all named drivers on your policy to recover the costs not covered by your car insurance. You'll also receive help to defend your legal rights if an accident leads to prosecution.

Personal Accident Cover

Personal Accident CoverCover from £23.99
This cover provides up to £30,000 for you or your passengers in the event of death, loss of limbs, sight or hearing following an accident in your car or while getting into or out of it. Our Personal Accident Cover is provided by Ultimate Insurance Company Limited.

Hire Car Cover

Hire Car CoverCover from £30.99
If your car is written-off or stolen and not recovered, this cover will provide you with a car to use anywhere in the UK for up to 21 days. All named drivers on your policy aged between 18-79 (with a full UK licence) will be able to use this car and you will be covered for up to two claims per policy.

RAC Breakdown Cover

RAC Breakdown CoverCover starting at £36.99
We offer four types of breakdown cover. All cover options will fix your car at the roadside if you are over a quarter of a mile away from home, or take you to a nearby garage. There are also no call-out or mileage charges. 

Key Cover

Key CoverCover from £17.50
This cover provides up to £2,500 for replacing locks and keys for your car, home and office, including locksmith charges. You’ll also receive three days of emergency car hire or the option to reclaim the cost of onward transport if your car keys are lost or stolen.

Excess Protect

Excess ProtectCover from £29.99
This covers the reimbursement of a policy excess you have to pay following an accident, although please note that windscreen excesses are not included. You can claim as many times as required up to your chosen coverage limit of either £300, £500 or £750 for each excess paid.

Protected no-claims discount

For a little extra you can protect your no-claims discount, and make two claims in five years without affecting it.

How do I view my policy documents?

If you have an email address, we’ll automatically send your policy documents to your secure online account so that you can save, email or print them. You’ll be able to set up access to your online account using a username/email address and a password after you buy your car insurance.
If you have requested paper policy documents they should arrive with you within 7-10 working days.

What car cover can I get with Zurich?

Our comprehensive car insurance includes many standard benefits – you can read more about what is included as standard in our policy booklet. You can further tailor your insurance by adding optional covers including legal cover, personal accident cover, excess protect cover, hire car cover, key care cover and RAC breakdown cover and protected no-claims discount.

How long does the car insurance policy last?

Your policy cover will normally run for 12 months unless you or we choose to cancel.

What is an insurance excess?

An insurance excess is the first part of each and every claim that you are required to pay. Your excess may vary depending on the type of claim, the insured vehicle, the driver or if your policy carries a voluntary excess in addition to any compulsory excess. Excesses for each driver will be shown on your statement of insurance.

Am I covered to drive abroad?

With a Zurich car insurance policy your car is covered if you use it in European Union countries, as well as Croatia, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as long as your visit is not for more than four days (up to a total of 14 days within any one period of insurance).
If after four days your vehicle does not return to the United Kingdom (unless we have agreed to extend cover in writing), cover will be limited to the minimum legal requirement to use your car in that country. The minimum requirements of United Kingdom law will apply if these are higher than those of the country you are using your car in. If you require cover for periods of more than four days or for a total period exceeding 14 days, please contact us on 0844 571 0290 for a quotation.

How do I make a new claim on my car insurance?

To report a claim in the United Kingdom please call us on 0845 308 0301, lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Who repairs my car?

Zurich will normally use a network of approved repairers to replace or repair your car or any part of it. Following an accident, you must use a supplier that has been agreed by us before your car is repaired, otherwise we may not pay.
If you choose not to use a one of our approved repairers, we will increase your compulsory excess by £100.

Will I get a courtesy car?

If your car is damaged in an accident, we will advise you of the nearest approved repairer who will offer you a courtesy car while your car is being repaired. This includes a free collection and delivery service. All courtesy cars are Group A vehicles (a small hatchback) with a manual gearbox and are available only in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. The supply of a courtesy car may be subject to the approved repairers terms and conditions.
If your car is destroyed or stolen and not recovered, you will not be offered a courtesy car.

Can I change my details in the middle of my policy term?

It's no problem to change your details, but please note that we may make a £25 administration policy charge for making changes to your policy. You can let us know about any changes by logging into your customer account or by calling us on 0844 571 0290 where one of our team will be happy to help you.

Can I cancel my policy?

Yes, you may cancel the policy at any time, but please refer to the policy booklet for more details on terms of cancellation, including applicable charges.
You can tell us you’d like to cancel by logging into your customer account, writing to us (using the contact details set out in your covering letter), or by calling us on 0844 571 0290.

What if I am over 85 - will Zurich insure me?
