Practical examples are the best way to illustrate our services. Below is a real-life case, highlighting how the right training helped a business and its employees achieve their objectives.
Machinery safety and good practice
Viasystems provides electronic manufacturing services for telecommunications and networking industries. It's Coventry site employs over 450 employees, manufacturing electronic communication storage cabinets and panels.
After a review of various operational procedures at the site and in particular the operation of 10 hydraulic press brakes, Viasystems’ site services manager, Anthony Mundy decided to refresh the press brake operators training and show them how to operate machinery correctly and comply with health and safety regulations.
"I was having real problems finding a course that fulfilled my operational and health and safety requirements", commented Anthony, "No one offered what I wanted. As I had recently completed the NEBOSH course with Zurich I asked them for further help to develop specific training for our press brake operators".
Modules were specifically tailored including 'Photo Electric Safety System installation and positioning incorporating PM41, EN 999, and HSG180 Standards', and including a demonstration of stop time monitoring on shop floor.
Over twenty press brake operators have been trained with the scheme has been a resounding success, boosting operator confidence and highlighting areas for improvement, which are now in place.
Anthony concludes, "Zurich has enabled Viasystems to feel confident that we have one of the most operationally efficient and safe sites in the industry".
